Michael Averill

Michael L. Averill, CPCU

Sporting over 35 years of experience, Mike has a thorough knowledge of the insurance industry. Varied positions and interactions within the field have afforded him a wide breadth of experience, he has an intimate familiarity with all of the challenges and demands of the P&C business.

From 2002 to present, Mike has been a consultant to carriers and regulators. He has provided targeted results – expense savings and new initiatives to increase revenues – for several clients. During Mike’s career he has been responsible for product development, review and compliance, company licensing, state filings, market conduct exams, relationships with carriers, agency licensing, underwriting and policy issuance audits, and government and industry relations.

During 2001, Mike was the Assistant Insurance Commissioner for New Hampshire. From 1994 through 2000, he was a Vice President for Syndicated Services Company, servicing fronted admitted program business for Lloyds of London. From 1987 to 1994, Mike was the Vice President of Government and Industry Relations for The Home Insurance Companies. Mike joined ISO upon graduating college and worked in the Personal Lines, Commercial Property and Commercial Casualty lines from 1971 through 1987. Mike was responsible for the development and implementation of the Commercial Lines Simplification Program in the 1980s.

Mike has served as the President of the New England Chapter of the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals; as an Officer of the New Hampshire Chapter of the CPCU Society; on the Board of Directors of six industry associations; on the IIAA Presidential Committee on Enhancing Agency Values.

Mike earned his B.S. in Economics/Math from Saint Peter’s College, Jersey City, New Jersey. He earned his MBA, with High Distinction, from Rivier College, Nashua, New Hampshire.
